Little Person,
Big World
Who I Am
My name is Noelle. I am a Villanova University BSc graduate with a double major. Heading off to study at Imperial College London this fall to receive my MSc, I am looking to pursue a career in biomedical research and medical writing. This summer I plan on dedicating a chunk of my time to finding plastic-free/zero-waste alternatives, scuba diving, and hiking!
How I Got Here
I am finally at that age where I am able to recognize all of the things my parents were right about when I was younger. I was always that kid in the lunch room with a reusable lunchbox, reusable sandwich wrap/thermos, and a reusable water bottle. More than anything I wanted to be that kid carrying a plastic grocery bag filled with a mini water bottle and a PB&J sandwich held in a plastic sandwich bag. My dad used to tell me, "I'm just thinking of your future, Pal." Now I know where my parents were coming from because I realize what our future is beginning to look like if we don't collectively start making changes.
Changes I Am Going to Make
I haven't always treated the Earth as wonderfully as it has treated me, so that is why I am making this change in my life. Hopefully you will join me in doing so too.
-
I am pledging to mindfully eliminate all plastic from my life.
-
I am pledging to be more conscious of my trash and water usage, especially in the shower.
-
I am pledging to help educate others in a kind manner on how they can make this change too.
-
I am pledging to strive towards living a minimal-waste lifestyle.
